Screening Clinics

2024 Summer Screening Event, August 11 and 18

Screenings are available by our speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists for speech, language, hearing, preliteracy, fine and gross motor, executive functioning, emotional regulation, play skills, etc. They are available for preschool and school-age children.

A screening is not an assessment. A screening helps you know if an assessment is recommended. Screenings are brief (15-30 minutes with each professional) and give you a 'pass' or 'refer' result. An assessment tells you whether your child is developing as expected, their strengths, needs for support, and when appropriate a diagnosis (for communication disorders) and can take from one to three hours with each professional depending on the scope of the assessment.

After your screening you will receive a brief written summary, information on developmental milestones, and information on how to access SLP and OT services in Nova Scotia (both the public and private sectors).

To schedule a screening, contact info@shoreline-therapy.ca.

If you would like to request a free screening clinic to be held for your preschool or in your community, please contact the Clinic Manager at pcoulter@shoreline-therapy.ca.

'Ask an SLP' Series

These sessions are for members of the public who are interested in learning more about topics related to communication development and disorders. These talks are offered as a community service. They are delivered by a licensed speech-language pathologist.

Those who would like to attend MUST register. This is to ensure that we have adequate space and so that we may reach you if we need to reschedule due to illness. To register, please contact us at info@shoreline-therapy.ca.

Stay tuned for topics such as early communication development, speech disorders in childhood, communication changes in Parkinson's disease, reading and writing disorders, and more!
